Jeannine Giraudy-McIntyre was born in the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia and has lived in several other Caribbean islands, the United States, Canada and now Africa. She has always been interested in the creative process whether it be writing poetry or short stories, creative dance or art. Her love of painting began when she visited several galleries and museums in France and was struck by the work of the impressionists and their creative use of color. She has also been influenced by bold color used by Caribbean and African artists. |
After relocating to Maryland,USA in 2000, Jeannine dedicated herself to painting mainly in pastels and oils. She is passionate about painting the human form and portraits. Another area of interest is painting flowers. Jeannine has taken courses in pastels and oil painting at Montgomery College, School of Art and Design but she is largely self-taught, learning from books, museums, studying the works of Caribbean artists such as Barry Watson, Boscoe Holder and fellow artist Edsel Edmunds.
Jeannine recently relocated to Ghana, West Africa and has embraced the opportunity to explore the diversity of people and foliage there.
In 2004, Jeannine participated in an exhibition of Caribbean artists at the Organization of American States, in Washington.DC,USA and in 2007 an exhibition of African artists at the Museum of Ghana, Ghana, Africa in 2006.
